A&M Industrial celebrates new DC

Rahway, N.J.-based A&M Industrial recently welcomed more than 350 customers, visitors, suppliers, and industry leaders to the grand opening of its 160,000 sq./.ft state-of-the-art distribution center located in Cranbury, N.J.

Founded in Newark, N.J., in 1954, A&M Industrial grew from a small hardware store into a product and service provider to the industrial market place. Throughout the boom years as well as the recessionary years when manufacturers left the New York region in droves, A&M Industrial survived by managing growth. Today, A&M has three locations in New Jersey, a branch office in Stroudsburg, Pa., and a presence in upstate New York.

The event featured highly sought-after information seminars from industry-leading experts, including staff from OSHA and Rutgers University. Visitors were treated to innovative 3-D printer demonstrations, live CNC milling and turning demonstrations, and a 7,200 sq./ft. trade show featuring manufacturers of safety and PPE, construction tools and equipment, valves, hose and fittings, vending and storage systems, cutting tools and abrasives. State and local government and chamber of commerce representatives participated in the ribbon cutting.

Arnold Young founded A&M Industrial and, at 84 years old, still serves as its president. A former U.S. Marine, Young has always been connected to veteran’s causes, which is why A&M Industrial chose NJ Vet2Vet as its charity partner for the event. Since 2008, NJ Vet2Vet’s 24/7 helpline has responded to over 50,000 calls from veterans and their families.

"One of the most rewarding aspects of my 60-year journey with this company is that we’ve managed our growth. We’ve done so by using our intelligence and street smarts to determine which direction is the right direction. The most important aspect of this business remains one-on-one contact with our customers,” said Young. “Relationships are at the heart of our business.”
