Manufacturing activity picks up

Manufacturing activity picked up steam according to Federal Reserve Bank reports from Dallas and Kansas City.

Growth in Texas factory activity picked up for a third consecutive month in November, according to business executives responding to the Texas Manufacturing Outlook Survey. The production index, a key measure of state manufacturing conditions, rose from 13.3 to 16.9, reaching its highest reading in five months.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City said that Tenth District manufacturing activity continued to grow, and producers’ expectations for future activity improved moderately. The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City serves the Tenth Federal Reserve District, encompassing the western third of Missouri; all of Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Wyoming; and the northern half of New Mexico.
