Grainger October sales up 7 percent
Grainger reported sales for the month of October increased 7 percent versus October 2012.
Results for the month included 3 percentage points positive contribution from acquisitions and a 1 percentage point decline from unfavorable foreign exchange. Excluding acquisitions and foreign exchange, organic sales increased 5 percent driven by 6 percentage points of volume growth, partially offset by a 1 percentage point decline from sales of hurricane-related products in October 2012. Last year, Grainger provided hurricane-related products for the preparation and response to Hurricane Sandy in the northeast United States.
Sales in the United States were up 10 percent, while sales in Canada decreased by 4 percent (+1% in local currency). Sales to all other businesses were up 2 percent (+9% in local currencies).
