Industrial Supply Co. supports Utah Food Bank

Industrial Supply Company presented a check for $20,000 to the Utah Food Bank during a recent annual 4-H Purchased Meat Program food sorting event.

The donation represented the proceeds from the Salt Lake City-based distributor’s annual charity golf event, held on August 13 at the Homestead Resort and was supported by vendors including 3M, Apex, Dewalt, Honeywell, Irwin, Knaack, Milwaukee and Stanley.

“Industrial Supply is committed to giving back to the communities they serve,” said Chris Bateman, CEO of Industrial Supply, “From the beginning, our philosophy has been to help strengthen and serve the communities that have helped us succeed for almost 100 years. We are honored to be able to support Utah Food Bank in providing critical services for Utahns struggling to feed their families. No one should have to go bed hungry.”

For every dollar that Industrial Supply donates, Utah Food Bank can provide $8 worth of goods and services for Utahns facing hunger. In addition to the generous monetary donation, Industrial Supply employees also volunteered their time and service during the event.

Each year, the meat for the event is donated by 4-H, “one of the top youth development programs in the world,” said Kevin Kessler, director of the Utah 4-H program. A total of 150,000 pounds of meat was donated this year. All of the donated meat was processed by local processing plants at a reduced rate. Volunteers from Utah Food Bank, Industrial Supply and the community got together to sort and box up the meat.

According to Ginette Bott, chief development officer at Utah Food Bank, “This program plays an important role in not only providing much-needed food assistance to Utahns, but also allowing us to provide rarely-available and highly nutritious meat products.”

Utah Food Bank distributes food to 472,000 Utahns struggling with hunger through a statewide network of 134 partner agencies.
