Purvis Industries acquires Bates companies

Purvis Industries has acquired The Bates family of companies, which comprises eight companies in Missouri, Kansas, Tennessee, Arkansas, Illinois and New Mexico.


The acquisition includes Bates Sales Company, The Mine Supply Company, IMSCO of Albuquerque, Design Mfg. & Equipment Co., St. Louis Vibrator Products, Conveyor and Drive Equipment Co., C&L Gear & Machine and Munroe Material Handling. Bates and its companies have been in operation over 60 years and account for over $68 million in annual revenue.

Bates has locations serving St. Louis, Hannibal, St. Genevieve, Jackson, Sikeston and Springfield, Mo., as well as locations in Pittsburg, Kan., Newbern, Tenn., and Blytheville and Osceola, Ark. The Mine Supply Company is located in Carlsbad, N.M., Mt Vernon, Ill., Viburnum, Mo., and its IMSCO division in Albuquerque, N.M.

Bates Sales has developed a diverse customer focused group of businesses targeted at providing local inventory and solutions for industrial and mining customers.

Bob Purvis and I have known each other through various supplier and independent networking groups and I felt Purvis Industries would be the best match for our people as well as our customers.” Michael Adorjan remain with the company to further develop the Bates and Mine Supply businesses as well as to help facilitate the transition process.

Based in Dallas, Purvis Industries is one of the largest independent bearing and power transmission distributors in the United States, with 68 locations covering 12 states and the province of Alberta, Canada.
