Sherwin-Williams sales up 9.4 percent

Sherwin-Williams reported that its third quarter net sales increased 9.4 percent to $2.85 billion.

Acquisitions increased consolidated net sales 1.1 percent in the quarter. Net income was $262.9 million, or $2.55 per share, compared to $234.9 million, or $2.24 per share, in the same period last year.

Net sales in the Paint Stores Group increased 13.5% to $1.76 billion in the quarter and increased 9.0% to $4.54 billion in nine months due primarily to higher architectural paint sales volume across all end market segments.

Net sales of the Consumer Group increased 5.4% to $366.8 million in the quarter due primarily to timing of seasonal shipments to some customers.

The Global Finishes Group's net sales stated in U.S. dollars increased 3.2% to $507.3 million in the quarter and increased 2.3% to $1.51 billion in nine months due primarily to selling price increases and acquisitions.
