Apache Hose and Belting acquires SUI

Apache Hose and Belting Co. announced the acquisition of Hillsboro, Oregon-based Seals Unlimited Inc.

Seals Unlimited is a manufacturer of rubber extrusion, rubber moldings, gaskets and hydraulic gate seals for both government and private industries.

"We have a very deliberate and focused growth plan. Strategic acquisitions are a critical component of the plan. The acquisition of Seals Unlimited expands our product offering, gives us vertical integration into molded products, and provides our company with a location to better serve our distribution network in the West and Northwest," said Tom Pientok, president and CEO of Apache.

Pientok said Seals Unlimited Inc. will continue to operate from its existing facility in Hillsboro under the Seals Unlimited brand name. Founder Thad Fair, who started the company in 1987, will remain under contract with the company.

The purchase is Apache's fourth strategic acquisition in less than four years. Apache acquired Hose Central, a Pennsylvania-based competitor, in November 2007, Ex-Cel Belting of St. Louis in December 2008, and AG Belt Inc., Des Moines, Iowa in April 2010.

Apache Hose and Belting, headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is an employee-owned fabricator and distributor of hose products, conveyor belting, fabricated belting products and retail industrial products.
