Würth Group sales up 12.3%

The Würth Group's 2011 sales climbed to a record EUR 9.7 billion ($12.1 billion USD), up 12.3 percent for the year.

"Stabilization of the U.S. market continued successfully in 2011. This recovery was primarily ensured by the entities of Würth Industrial Network (WINWORK), which benefited from the slight improvement in the economy in the relevant markets in the USA, and succeeded in winning new market share," according to the company's annual report.

All five Würth Line divisions, which focus on assembly and fastening materials, saw growth.

The metal division accounted for the largest portion of total sales with 16.9 percent of the Group's overall share. Sales in the Industry segment, which comprises 8.5 percent of total sales, increased by 21 percent during the year. The Wood division generated sales of EUR 932 million ($1.2 billion USD) in the past fiscal year. For the wood division, sales in North America represented 34 percent of total 2011 sales.

The company plans to achieve sales of EUR 10 billion ($12.6 billion USD) in 2012.
