Sherwin-Williams sales climb 12.1 percent

The Sherwin-Williams Company said its consolidated net sales increased 12.1%, to $3.04 billion in the second quarter.

The company credited the gain primarily to higher paint sales volume in Paint Stores Group and acquisitions.

Net sales of the Consumer Group increased 10.1% to $433.4 million in the quarter and increased 8.0% to $758.7 million in six months due primarily to higher volume sales to most of the Group's retail customers and the impact of acquisitions.

The Global Finishes Group's net sales increased 6.1% to $544.6 million in the quarter due primarily to higher paint sales volume and selling price increases.

The Latin America Coatings Group's net sales decreased 8.9% to $181.2 million in the quarter due primarily to unfavorable currency translation rate changes and lower paint sales volume, partially offset by selling price increases.
