Sherman + Reilly names head of Utility business

Sherman + Reilly/ A Textron Company appointed Doug Eichner to the newly created position of senior vice president, Utility.


Doug EichnerEichner will assume the role of general manager by the end of the year, according to Scott Hall, president, Textron Industrial Segment and its Textron Tools & Test division.

Eichner, former vice president and general manager, Greenlee Textron - Electrical, will join Sherman + Reilly where he will work with former owners Mike Dunn, senior vice president and general manager, and Doug Diamond, senior vice president, on leadership transition and the business expansion strategy. Dunn and Diamond will continue in their roles until the end of the year.

Textron acquired Sherman + Reilly, a manufacturer of underground and aerial transmission and distribution products based in Chattanooga, Tenn., in May 2013, and HD Electric Company, a Waukegan, Ill.-based designer and manufacturer of power utility products, in December 2013 to establish a stronger presence in the electric utility industry.

According to Hall, “One of Doug’s immediate priorities will be meeting with key customers to discuss the combined benefits our product solutions provide for the power utility sector. Our goal was, and remains, to build a multi-product platform that delivers designs that are safer, more durable and more efficient than the competition.”

Hall also announced that he will lead the Greenlee Textron - Electrical business until a replacement for Eichner has been named.
