Grainger sales up 11% in May
Grainger reported sales results for the month of May increased 11 percent versus May 2010.
Results for the month included a 1 percentage point positive contribution from acquisitions and a 2 percentage point contribution from foreign exchange. In 2010, Grainger provided safety and related products used to clean up the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, which contributed approximately 1 percentage point to total company sales for the year.
By segment, sales in the U.S. climbed 8%, while sales in Canada increased by 15% in local currency. Sales to other businesses in May, which includes acquired business in Colombia, were up 39%.
