Pembroke Consulting and Modern Distribution Management announce the release of the 2010 Wholesale Distribution Economic Reports (www.mdm.com/wder).
The reports include industry statistics, trend analysis and forecasts for 18 sectors in the distribution industry, including the industrial market (http://www.mdm.com/industrial-distributors-report ); hardware, plumbing and heating equipment/supplies (http://www.mdm.com/hvac-report) ; building materials and construction (http://www.mdm.com/construction-report); electrical and electronics (http://www.mdm.com/electrical-electronics-report); and grocery and foodservice (http://www.mdm.com/foodservice-report).
"As I predicted last July, the wholesale distribution industry will show year-over-year growth in the first quarter of 2010," said report author and wholesale distribution industry expert Adam J. Fein, Ph.D. "Total revenues of wholesale distributors shrunk by -14.8% to $3.8 trillion in 2009, marking the first year of negative growth since the comparatively mild decline of -1.0% in 2001. Revenues decreased by -9.1% after adjusting for the effects of price change (inflation and deflation). All but one of the 19 major industry sectors registered negative revenue growth in 2009."
"Pembroke Consulting forecasts increasing revenues for 2010 in all but one of the 19 major wholesale distribution sectors. However, many sectors will be growing from dramatically diminished levels," Fein added.
