No change in manufacturing jobs in April
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics today reported a better than anticipated jobs report.
Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 165,000 in April, and the unemployment rate dropped from 7.6 to 7.5 percent.
The construction industry lost 6,000 jobs in April after gaining an average of 27,000 jobs per month over the prior six months. Manufacturing employment was unchanged in April.
