Superior Abrasives to expand

Superior Abrasives has finalized plans for a new, 100,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Vandalia, Ohio.

The facility will be located within Stonequarry Crossings, on a 12-acre lot that Superior Abrasives purchased from the City of Vandalia, Ohio, near the company's current location in Dayton, Ohio. The building should be ready for occupation in early 2016.

The company owns enough land to expand by an additional 80,000 square feet if needed.

The abrasives manufacturer held a groundbreaking ceremony on March 23 with local officials and employees.

"The two-story facility will feature a modern design with an all-glass exterior, giving it an open and welcoming appearance. The new building will also bring new opportunities for customers to visit and use the facility as a training center. Our new building will have a brand new training room with up-to-date technology as well as a state of the art testing lab that we can use for product training for our valued distributors and end-users. Our new lab will have six testing centers equipped for product testing, training and development," according to a company statement.

Superior Abrasives LLC manufactures coated and non-woven abrasive products for the industrial metalworking industry. Its clients are located throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe.

Superior employs 85 full-time workers and plans to hire about 25 more over the next three years.
