Midwest Manufacturing Index up in January
The Chicago Fed Midwest Manufacturing Index (CFMMI) increased 1.1% in January, to a seasonally adjusted level of 84.1.
The Federal Reserve Board's industrial production index for manufacturing rose 0.3% in January. Regional output rose 9.2% from a year earlier, and national output increased 6.0%.
Three of the four regional sectors increased in January, with auto sector production up 4.1%; steel sector output rose 1.3%; machinery sector production moved up 1.0%; and resource sector output decreased 0.7%.
