Kimball Midwest opens Savannah DC
Kimball Midwest, a Columbus, Ohio-based MRO distributor, celebrated the grand opening of a new Savannah, Ga., distribution center with a ribbon cutting ceremony on March 6.
The facility, which has been in operation since January, is the first distribution center for Kimball Midwest in the Southeast.
“Just in the first two months here, we’ve shipped more than 12,000 orders to more than 5,000 customers and 99 percent of those were next-day,” said Pat McCurdy, president and CEO. He added that 99 percent of the product is shipped complete from the new center.
Dave McCurdy, vice president of operations, said the Kimball Midwest sales team has been a focus for the company since its founding in 1923.
“The beautiful thing about our background is that our Dad sold for this business from 1950 to 1978, so we grew up with an appreciation of what a sales team means to a company,” he said. “Savannah has been a perfect city for us logistically and for the type of people we’ve been able to attract.”
