Grainger January sales up 3%

Grainger reported sales in January increased 3 percent compared to January 2014.

Results included 1 percentage point from acquisitions and a 2 percentage point decline from unfavorable foreign exchange. Excluding acquisitions and foreign exchange, organic sales increased 4 percent on a daily basis.

The increase was partially offset by a 2 percentage point decline from lower sales of seasonal products.

Sales in the United States increased by 4 percent, while sales in Canada declined by 4 percent, but reflected a 6 percent increase in local currency. Sales to Grainger's other businesses segment were up 14 percent (26 percent in local currency).
