Wm. F. Hurst Co. Inc. has acquired CRC Inc. of Texas, a distributor of power tools, fabrication solutions and fluid handling systems.
Terms of the cash asset transaction were not disclosed.
Wm. F. Hurst is a family owned distributor and representative of advanced power tool products, perishable tool crib products and integration systems.
Both Hurst and CRC offer trained and experienced customer service staff to the customer floor level with emphasis on power tool assembly and fabrication solutions. The addition of Hurst's perishable products and integration systems will enhance CRC's ability to continue as a leading value added industrial distributor in the Texas marketplace, the company said in a prepared statement. Hurst will add staff and training to expand the fluid handling opportunity.
Frank and Mary Ann Campbell, founders of CRC of Texas, along with existing CRC staff, will remain with the company. "We chose the Hurst offer because of their commitment to continue to grow CRC of Texas and their family oriented style of business practices in their dealings with employees, customers and vendors," said Frank Campbell.
"The challenges of today's medium-sized distributors are not unique to Hurst," said Trahy Hurst, president of Wm. F. Hurst Co. "We must find ways to spread substantial required investments in technology through acquisition or shared services. We have no paradigm; we are looking for long-term solutions to national competitive challenges in a shrinking marketplace. Frank and his staff at CRC are examples of the quality people in our peer businesses that we want to find a way to work with. Through our relationships in Affiliated Distributors and the Industrial Supply Association, we will continue to seek partners in the distribution business."
