KMC Global partners with Design Systems, BC Construction Group on Li-ion battery recycling

In a strategic move to transform the lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery recycling industry, KMC Global has announced a new partnership with Design Systems Inc. and BC Construction Group. The collaboration is set to develop state-of-the-art facilities dedicated to recycling Li-ion batteries, which are pivotal in powering everything from electric vehicles to portable electronics.

The alliance will employ a Design-Build delivery approach, ensuring a seamless integration from conception through the construction of turnkey recycling facilities. These installations are designed to efficiently extract valuable minerals such as cobalt, nickel, and lithium, thus enhancing the profitability and sustainability of Li-ion battery recycling.

"We’re truly excited about our new alliance with BC Construction Group and Design Systems Inc. because of our full-service offering for existing customers and new prospects," said Tim Hanna, vice president of business development at KMC Global. "By combining our forces, we are taking the risks out of the battery recycling process.”

The partnership will deploy advanced equipment and innovative processes that optimize the conversion of used batteries into black mass, a key material in battery recycling. In a press statement, KMC Global said the initiative sets a new industry standard and underscores KMC Global and its partners' commitment to environmental sustainability and technological innovation.

By uniting the expertise of KMC Global, Design Systems Inc., and BC Construction Group, the companies say the alliance is poised to make significant strides in making battery recycling safer, more efficient, and more profitable.
