Manufactured goods orders rise in September
New orders for manufactured goods in September increased 0.3 percent to $455.5 billion, the U.S. Census Bureau reported today.
This followed a 0.4 percent August increase.
New orders for manufactured durable goods decreased 0.3 percent to $226.8 billion, down from the previously published 0.1 percent decrease. This followed a 0.2 percent August increase.
Transportation equipment drove the decrease, falling 1.1 percent to $77.2 billion.
New orders for manufactured nondurable goods increased 0.9 percent to $228.7 billion.
Shipments increased 0.8 percent to $463.0 billion. This followed a 0.2 percent August increase.
