Employment grew by 209,000 jobs in July
Employment increased by 209,000 jobs in July, and the unemployment rate fell to 4.3 percent from 4.4 percent.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that factory employment grew by 16,000 jobs during the month, with the bulk of those jobs coming in the durable goods sector (13,000).
Construction employment grew by 6,000 in July.
Employment in mining was unchanged in July. From a recent low in October 2016 through June, the industry had added an average of 7,000 jobs per month.
