Robert S. Mars Jr. passes away
W.P. & R.S. Mars Co., a 93 year old industrial supply firm based in Minnesota, announced that long time company president and industry leader Robert S. Mars Jr. has died at the age of 90.
Mars started with the family business in 1949 and continued to come to work up until recent weeks. He was inducted into the Duluth Hall of Fame in 1977 for his civic leadership and was well known in the area for his many contributions to industry and the community.
“It is very tough to lose such an awesome leader and mentor, but he had a great life and his legacy will live on at the company forever,” said his son and current company president, Bob Mars III.
He was honored at the 1991 ISA Convention in San Francisco as the recipient of the ASMMA American Eagle Individual Achievement Award.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, seven children, 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
