Manufacturing expanded in June

Manufacturing expanded in June, as the Institute for Supply Management's purchasing manager's index increased 0.7 percentage points to 53.5 percent.


The marks the 30th consecutive month of growth. A reading above 50 percent indicates that the manufacturing economy is generally expanding; below 50 percent indicates that it is generally contracting.

ISM’s New Orders Index registered 56 percent in June, an increase of 0.2 percentage point when compared to the May reading of 55.8 percent, indicating growth in new orders for the 31st consecutive month.
