Rockwell Automation sales fall 7.1 percent

Rockwell Automation reported fiscal 2016 second quarter sales of $1.44 billion, down 7.1 percent from $1.55 billion in the second quarter of fiscal 2015.

Organic sales declined 3.6 percent, and currency translation reduced sales by 3.5 percent.

Net income was $168.0 million, or $1.28 per share, compared to $206.0 million, or $1.51, in the second quarter of fiscal 2015.

"Organic sales were in line with our expectations. Challenging heavy industry end markets, particularly oil and gas, outweighed modest growth in the consumer and automotive verticals," said Keith D. Nosbusch, chairman and chief executive officer.

Architecture & Software quarterly sales were $629.5 million, a decrease of 6.6 percent compared to $674.3 million in the same period last year. Organic sales decreased 3.3 percent, and currency translation reduced sales by 3.3 percent.

Control Products & Solutions quarterly sales were $810.8 million, a decrease of 7.5 percent compared to $876.5 million in the same period last year. Organic sales decreased 3.9 percent, and currency translation reduced sales by 3.6 percent.
