Fastenal Q4 sales rise 22 percent

Fastenal reported that sales rose rose about 22 percent to $697.8 million for the fourth quarter.


The company's net income rose to $87.5 million, or 30 cents a share, from $65.2 million, or 22 cents a share, a year ago.

For the full year, sales rose nearly 22 percent to $2.8 billion, compared to $2.3 billion in the previous year. Annual net income was $357.9 billion, compared to net income of $265.4 in 2010.

In 2011, Fastenal opened 122 new stores, an increase of 4.9% since Dec. 31, 2010, and employed 15,168 people, an increase of 14.2%.

For the year, sales to manufacturing customers grew by 20%, and was more pronounced among OEM customers than in the maintenance segment.
